I saw bits of this years ago, but I never sat down and watched the whole thing from start to finish til now. And I'm somewhat disappointed. For a start it's billed as "Tim Burton's Nightmare Before Christmas" when in reality he didn't direct it at all. The original story and characters are his, but that's as far as his input goes. The score is atmospheric enough but can you hum any tunes from it? Cos I can't. There isn't much wit in the lyrics, I can't recall anything that really made me laugh, or that I thought "ooh that's clever" about. The story is somewhat uninspired. Jack Skellington wants to bring Christmas to Halloween town and kidnaps Santa Claus and all the little children really miss Santa Claus, so Jack Skellington sets him free and lets him return to his homeland. There's no twist or ingenious plot development. There are no surprises. It looks good (as you'd expect from a Tim Burton production) but there's nothing of substance going on to do justice to the gothic-style sets. I'm left wondering what all the fuss was about.

Eh, I don't care for that crap. There's nothing amazing to it.
I've finally got an idea for my short film for screenwriting though. It's based on a story my sister told me. It's about an autistic boy that she had for one of her social skills therapy days. He was quite a character and rather different from a lot of the autistic children I've known. For starters, he was verbal, echolalic actually. Anyway, I'm using it as my story. Nothing in particular happens, no characters are particularly changed by the events. It's simply a glimpse into the private world of an autistic child and the simple joys that he is able to experience.

It's probably a little late for an update now...
...but did you ever develop this story?
I think you should. And then you should post it on here so I can steal read it.
