A list:
1. "the end" by The Doors. An obvious choice, if you'll forgive me...Whilst waiting for the pills to take effect do try to refrain from thinking bitterly "What did you have to be depressed about you good looking, hedonistic, talented dead fuck!"
2. "I know it's over" by The Smiths. For me their best song. The lyrics seem so honest, I'll give Morrissey the benefit of the doubt. I don't think his alienation was an affectation. I think it took him twenty years to admit that he was a homosexual man. I also like the idea that he had a thing for Johnny Marr which could never be consumated. But that's just an idea of mine. "O mother I can feel the soil falling over my head..."
3. anything by Joy Division, naturally. I particularly like "Shadowplay" and "Atmosphere". You could go with "Love will tear us apart" but it would be kind of vulgar in my view.
4. "The Birdie Song"
5. "Shackles (Praise you)" by mary mary. Stick two fingers up to God in a kind of ironic way...
6. "Blasphemous Rumours" by Depeche Mode. Altogether now: "I don't want to start any blasphemous rumours/But I think that God's got a sick sense of humour/And when I die I expect to find him laughing..."
7. "Ace of Spades" by Motorhead. Go out with a bang.
8. "Aerial" by Kate Bush. Good one if you fancy jumping from a roof top and you want it to look like an accident: "...I feel I gotta get up on the ROOOOFFF!!..." Hey presto - a mysterious did she or didn't she? death.
9. I'll get back to you....
